- Key fact: On 1 October 2026 three of the five suppliers we checked showed a UK per-user price a firm could read before a sales call: Clio Manage from £79 a user a month on its Core plan, Osprey Approach at £110 or £140 a licence a month on a 36-month term with a three-licence minimum, and Hoowla at £48 a user a month plus VAT. LEAP's page says price on request and Actionstep is quote-only. For a seven-user firm the published range runs from £4,032 to £11,760 a year.
- Sources: clio.com/uk/pricing (Core "starting at" £79 a user a month; the two higher plans are quoted), ospreyapproach.com/price-plans (Advanced £110 and Premium £140 per paying licence, billed monthly; 36-month term; prices rise 5% on each anniversary; minimum three licences) and hoowla.com/pricing (quote calculator: £48 a user a month and £24.50 per completed case, plus VAT), each read in a browser on 2026-10-01; LEAP UK pricing page (price on request, read 2026-10-01); Actionstep publishes no price; third-party listings for LEAP's £129. An earlier version of this page gave Clio and Osprey figures from comparison pages; they were replaced with the suppliers' own the same day. Hoowla Trustpilot: 7 reviews, 2.3 of 5, read 2026-10-01.

"LEAP legal software", "LEAP pricing", "Clio vs LEAP", "best case management software for solicitors": the software searches in this sector are about price and reviews, and the pricing pages mostly answer with a form. We read what was published on one day and worked it for one firm.

**What this is, and is not.** A desk check of each supplier's own pricing page as it stood on 1 October 2026. We did not trial any system or ask for a quote. LEAP's page gives no price, so the LEAP row carries a third-party figure and says so. Read the live pages before deciding.

## The prices, as published

| System | Per user per month | Terms noted |
|---|---|---|
| Clio | Core from £79; the two higher plans are quoted | The page does not say whether VAT is included |
| Osprey Approach | Advanced £110; Premium £140; Enterprise on application | Billed monthly per paying licence; minimum three licences; 36-month agreement; prices rise 5% on each anniversary |
| LEAP | Price on request | One subscription per user, depending on users, migration, implementation and training (LEAP's own page); third-party listings put the start around £129 |
| Actionstep | Quote only | Depends on firm size and modules |
| Hoowla | £48, plus VAT | Its quote calculator also charges £24.50 per completed case; conveyancing-focused; 7 Trustpilot reviews at 2.3 of 5 on the day |

## The example firm

Five fee earners (two partners, a licensed conveyancer, a probate executive, a trainee), two support staff who also need logins, so seven users; conveyancing, probate and some private client; moving from an on-premises system at the end of its contract.

## The sums, where a price exists

| System | Basis | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| Clio Core | 7 × £79 × 12, the starting price | from £6,636 |
| Osprey Advanced | 7 × £110 × 12, year one of 36 months | £9,240 |
| Osprey Premium | 7 × £140 × 12, year one of 36 months | £11,760 |
| LEAP, at the third-party figure | 7 × £129 × 12 | £10,836, if the listing is right |
| Hoowla | 7 × £48 × 12, user licences only, plus VAT | £4,032 |
| Actionstep | quote | not calculable |

For the seven users the published range is £4,032 (Hoowla, user licences only) to £11,760 (Osprey Premium in its first year). Osprey's 5% yearly rise puts the same seven licences at £12,348 in year two. Migration, implementation and training are extra everywhere and are the part of LEAP's own page that explains why it does not publish a figure. For a firm leaving an on-premises system, the migration quote is often the larger number in year one, and it is the one no supplier prints; ask for it in writing before comparing the subscriptions.

## What the price does not tell you

Whether the system does legal accounts to the SRA Accounts Rules or needs a second product. Whether the conveyancing workflow carries searches, SDLT and Land Registry inside it or by integration. What the exit costs: data export in a usable form, and the notice period. And what the search is really about, which the review-site complaints make clear: logins, support response, and whether the firm can leave. None of that is on a pricing page, and a demo is where to ask.

## Where Overlyft ![](https://aeolookup.com/img/d/ours-badge.png) fits

Overlyft does not sell case management software, and an assistant it sets up needs one to read from. The four AI staff it sets up for a firm, the Matter Updater, Chaser, Probate Clerk and File Opener, work inside whichever system the firm runs, drafting the [client updates](https://aeolookup.com/solicitors/conveyancing-client-update-email-template/), the chasers and the [file-opening checks](https://aeolookup.com/solicitors/client-care-letter-checklist-new-matter/) that the system stores but does not write, with a supervising solicitor reviewing each one. The comparison that matters to a partner is a paralegal's salary against the cost of setting up an assistant, and that is a different page. This one is about the software.
