Best AI tools for UK recruitment agencies in 2026
Six AI tools for a small UK recruitment agency, scored on the jobs each covers, set-up, approval, support, a clear price and track record.

Recruitment has two kinds of AI tool. The CRMs have added AI across the board and mostly keep the price behind a demo. The specialists do one thing, format a CV or write up a call, and usually publish what they charge. For a small agency the catch is in the editions: the Bullhorn plans with a published price contain no AI features, and the ones with AI are quoted.
We scored six tools on what their own pages say, read on 1 October 2026. Overlyft's done-for-you set-up comes first on our scoring: it is set up for you inside the systems you already use, it covers all six of these jobs in one installation, and a person approves what goes out. It is new and has no independent customer reviews yet, so weigh that against the tools with a track record.

1. Top pick: best for approval-first admin on the CRM you already have
Overlyft: done-for-you set-up
Overlyft sets up a small team of AI staff inside the agency: a Resourcer searches your database and job board CV searches for each role, reads applications against the written brief and drafts first messages for the consultant to approve; a CV Formatter produces the spec CV with contact details removed; a Candidate Coordinator schedules interviews and writes the confirmations; a Call Notes Clerk writes up recorded calls to the CRM record; a Compliance Clerk checks terms are signed, runs right-to-work checks at offer and keeps the follow-up dates; a Timesheet Chaser gets the week's timesheets in and matched to rates for payroll. The consultant decides who goes forward. The service is new, with no independent reviews.
Pros
- Covers all six agency jobs, with screening notes that show the evidence
- Works in your existing CRM and inbox
- Fixed prices published on the agency site; a person approves what goes out
Cons
- New service: no independent customer reviews yet
- Call notes need your calls recorded, with notice to the caller
- The build is paid upfront, and you also pay Anthropic for a Claude plan

2. Best published price for an AI CRM
ATSpro
ATSpro puts the most on the page for the least money: one plan at £49 a user with branded CVs, sourcing and outreach agents, an interview agent that schedules and confirms, right-to-work tracking and timesheets, and an approval queue where you choose which agents act alone and which wait for you. On features and price it would lead this list. It is fourth because we could find nothing to check it against: no company number or address on the pages we read, no customer count, no independent reviews. Use the trial and ask for references.
Pros
- One all-in price, monthly, no contract
- Covers five of the six jobs on its own page
- An approval queue you control
Cons
- No independent reviews, customer numbers or company details found
- No AI call notes
- VAT not mentioned on the pricing page

3. Best if you want the market's standard CRM
Bullhorn with Amplify
Bullhorn is the CRM most recruiters have used somewhere. Its AI, sold as Amplify, formats CVs, searches and matches candidates and transcribes calls in the Pro edition, and adds multi-step outreach, automatic matching and interview scheduling in Max. That covers more of the six jobs than any specialist. The published prices are for Starter and Core, whose feature lists contain none of the AI, so the figure that matters is one you have to ask for. Compliance and onboarding are separate paid products.
Pros
- AI across formatting, search, outreach and call notes in the top editions
- Prices in pounds for the entry editions, with free implementation
- The system most new hires already know
Cons
- No published price for any edition that includes AI
- No approval step for AI outreach stated
- VAT, minimum term and minimum users are not on the page
| Price | Starter £80 and Core £120 per user a month, neither with AI features; Pro and Max, which have them, are by quote |
|---|---|
| Best for | Agencies planning to grow past ten consultants on one system |
| Set-up | By demo; Starter and Core include free implementation |

4. Best UK-built CRM for temp and contract desks
Firefish
Firefish is a recruitment CRM built in the UK for UK agencies. A CV formatter and interview scheduling are in every plan, its AI agents match candidates inside your own database and write emails, and the Scale plan adds compliance controls, timesheets and a rate and time clock. Temporary workflow is in Enterprise. A feature for the agency worker 12-week rule was marked coming soon when we read the page. On coverage it rivals Bullhorn for a UK temp desk; on price transparency it gives nothing but the add-on figure.
Pros
- CV formatting and interview scheduling in every plan
- Compliance controls and timesheets from the Scale plan
- Built for UK contract, temp and permanent recruitment
Cons
- No plan prices published
- No AI call notes stated
- Does not say whether a recruiter reviews AI-written emails before sending
| Price | Not published: plan prices are by demo; add-on modules from £150 each |
|---|---|
| Best for | UK agencies running contract or temporary desks alongside permanent |
| Set-up | Done with the supplier after a demo |
| Jobs covered (4½ of 6) | 1.125 of 1.5 |
|---|---|
| Set up for you | 0.75 of 1.5 |
| A person approves | 0 of 0.5 |

| Track record | 0 of 0.5 |

5. Best for outreach and call notes together
SourceWhale
SourceWhale sits on top of your CRM. It runs outreach sequences across email, text, phone and LinkedIn, finds contact details, and its notetaker writes up meetings and calls and logs them to the CRM. An inbox agent drafts replies for the recruiter to glance at and send, though follow-ups go automatically. It covers the two jobs most CRMs do least well. There is no price of any kind on its site, and the only address on its contact page is in New York.
Pros
- Outreach sequences and contact data in one tool
- Meeting and call notes logged to your CRM
- Replies are drafted for the recruiter to send
Cons
- No price published
- No CV formatting, scheduling or compliance
- UK presence not shown on its contact page
| Price | Not published: the pricing page is a demo form |
|---|---|
| Best for | Billers who live in outreach sequences and want notes logged for them |
| Set-up | By demo |
| Jobs covered (2 of 6) | 0.5 of 1.5 |
|---|---|
| Set up for you | 0 of 1.5 |
| A person approves | 0.5 of 0.5 |

| Track record | 0.25 of 0.5 |
| Total, 1.25 rounded | 1.3 of 5 |
6. Best for CV formatting
HireAra
HireAra does one job and prices it plainly. It turns a candidate's CV into your branded template using generative AI, and also produces one-page summaries, spec CVs and cover sheets, with tracking that shows when a client opens what you sent. It is a UK company based in Loughborough, charges by the number of candidates a year with unlimited users, and connects to the main CRMs. Its site displays a Trustpilot rating of 4.8 from 94 reviews. The pages do not say whether a recruiter checks the formatted CV before it goes; you should.
Pros
- Clear price in pounds, unlimited users
- Branded CVs, summaries and spec CVs from one upload
- UK company; site shows 94 Trustpilot reviews
Cons
- CV presentation only
- At 1,500 candidates a year the entry plan is £2,160 a year plus VAT
- No stated review step before a CV goes to a client
| Price | £180 a month plus VAT for 1,500 candidates a year, unlimited users; £450 for 5,000; £950 for 12,000 |
|---|---|
| Best for | Agencies that send a lot of CVs and want every one in the house style |
| Set-up | By call with the founders; not stated beyond that |
| Jobs covered (1 of 6) | 0.25 of 1.5 |

How we ranked them
What counted: agency jobs covered out of six (CV formatting, sourcing and outreach, interview scheduling and confirmations, call notes and CRM updates, compliance checks, timesheets), up to 1.5 points: a quarter point each, an eighth for part of a job; set up for you inside the agency's existing tools (done for you 1.5, guided onboarding 0.75, self-serve or not stated 0), up to 1.5; a stated step where a person approves (here, the recruiter) what the AI produces, within the sector's regulated limits, up to 0.5; ongoing support stated (monitoring, named support or a service level), up to 0.5; a UK price you can read without a sales call, up to 0.5; independent track record (reviews with a count), up to 0.5.
We read each product's own product and pricing pages on 1 October 2026 and recorded what each says it does. Where a page did not mention a job, the table says "not stated"; that is an absence of a statement, not proof the tool cannot do it.
Review ratings shown here are the ones each company displays on its own site; we did not check them on the review platforms, so they earn a quarter point, not a half. We have not run trials of these products.
Each product's score is the sum of the six marks shown under its entry, rounded to one decimal place, and every product is marked the same way from what its entry records. Jobs: a quarter point for each of the six jobs its pages say it does, with AI or with ordinary software, and an eighth for part of a job; a job that needs a separate product, or a feature marked coming soon, does not count. Set-up: 1.5 where the supplier sets it up for you, 0.75 where it offers onboarding, training or migration help, 0 where it is self-serve or does not say. Approval: 0.5 where the pages state a step where a person approves what the AI produces, 0 otherwise. Support: 0.5 where ongoing support such as monitoring, named support or a service level is stated. Price: 0.5 for a full price in pounds on its own pages; 0.25 for a starting price, part of a price, a price in another currency or one found only on a directory. Track record: 0.5 for independent reviews with a count; 0.25 for a rating shown only on the company's own site, or customer numbers or named customers the company states itself.
Track record counts for up to 0.5 because these reviews compare what each product does for a small firm, not how big the vendor is. A tool with thousands of reviews still has to cover the jobs to score well, and a new service with none loses that half point.
CoRecruit, which UK agencies knew as Quil, is covered in the questions below.
Questions people ask
What is the best AI tool for a small recruitment agency?
It depends on what you already use. On the pages we read on 1 October 2026: Bullhorn's top editions cover the most jobs but are priced by quote; HireAra is the clearest buy for CV formatting; Firefish suits UK temp and contract desks; ATSpro has the best published price but no track record we could check.
How much does Bullhorn cost in the UK?
Bullhorn's UK page shows Starter at £80 and Core at £120 per user a month. Neither edition lists AI features. Pro and Max, which include AI formatting, matching, call transcription and outreach, are quoted on request. The page does not state VAT, minimum term or minimum users.
What happened to Quil?
Quil is now CoRecruit; the old address redirects. It is an AI notetaker for recruiters that records calls and meetings and pushes structured notes into Bullhorn, Vincere and other CRMs. Its page shows from $64 per user a month paid annually on a 12-month minimum term, and a Canadian address with no UK office.
Does any tool track the agency worker 12-week rule?
None of the products we read states that it does today. Firefish marks a rate and time clock feature for this as coming soon. The AI Compliance Clerk in Overlyft's set-up keeps the date as part of its diary, and our free 12-week calculator shows how the weeks are counted.
