Schema checker for AI search: structured data and entity signals

Reads every JSON-LD block on a page, checks each against the properties Google and answer engines use, and scores how clearly it says who you are.

Updated 30 October 2026

Reads public pages only. Nothing is stored and no sign-up is needed.

What it checks

  • Every JSON-LD block on the page, including @graph lists and nested items, and whether each one is valid JSON
  • Required and recommended properties for Organization, LocalBusiness and its common types, WebSite, Article, FAQPage, Product, Service, Person, BreadcrumbList, Event, HowTo and Review
  • Entity signals: a named organisation or person, sameAs links to your other profiles (LinkedIn, Companies House, Wikipedia), a logo and an @id
  • Microdata and RDFa, counted, so you know if older markup is on the page

Use it from code or an AI agent

The same check is a free JSON API and an MCP tool. No key, no sign-up.

curl "https://aeolookup.com/api/aeo/schema?url=example.co.uk"

MCP: add https://aeolookup.com/mcp as a remote server and call check_structured_data. API and MCP documentation.

Questions people ask

Does schema markup get a page cited by ChatGPT?

The evidence is mixed. Ahrefs followed 1,885 pages that added JSON-LD and found no clear rise in citations in ChatGPT, AI Mode or AI Overviews, while correlation studies by Semrush and SE Ranking found cited pages carry more markup. What schema reliably does is earn Google rich results and state who you are in a form no machine has to guess at.

Which schema should a small business have?

On the home page, Organization or the LocalBusiness type that fits you, with name, url, logo, address, telephone, opening hours and sameAs links. Add Service on service pages, Article on guides and BreadcrumbList across the site. That covers most of what answer engines and Google use.

What is sameAs and why does it matter?

sameAs lists the addresses of the same organisation elsewhere: your LinkedIn page, Companies House entry, Google Business Profile, Wikipedia or Wikidata entry. It lets a machine join those profiles into one entity, which is how an assistant becomes confident it is talking about you and not a firm with a similar name.

Is FAQPage markup still worth adding?

Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health sites in August 2023, so most sites will not get the expanded result. The markup still labels each question and answer for other machines, and costs little if the questions are already on the page.
